Meet Cheryl

A former Master Teacher of Science (translate: science geek), Cheryl Liberatore led her high school students to a deeper understanding of God’s character through teaching the wonders and complexities of biology, chemistry, and anatomy & physiology.

After a decade in the classroom, Cheryl’s focus shifted abruptly.    A doctor, treating her college-athlete daughter for abdominal pain, dropped a medical bomb: “Your daughter has cancer.” In a cruel twist of fate, history had repeated itself. Eighteen years earlier, doctors had pronounced the same diagnosis upon her husband.

As primary caretaker for her husband and daughter, Cheryl Liberatore kept a detailed journal. These notes became the foundation for her book: Healing or Homecoming? Finding God When Life Is in the Balance. In it, she unfolds her loved ones’ emotionally gripping journeys—each uniquely scripted by God and both proving God to be worthy of our absolute trust no matter the outcome.

Cheryl continues to write from coastal Virginia where she enjoys the ocean, lakes, and waterways near her home. Her top loves are God, family, boating, sunsets (sunrises come too early), and dark chocolate. If not in Virginia, you may find her and her husband hiking the northernmost Rocky Mountains with a camera and a can of bear spray within easy reach.
